Newborn Photography

In all our years of photography, we have gradually seen a wonderful growth in newborn photography. In those days, nurses going around maternity rooms snapped one or two Polaroid images of the babies whether crying or not. The photos were framed in a paper frame and these were taken home as a memento along with the babies bundled tight in hospital blankets with their head covered.

Newborn portraiture nowadays are a far cry from a Polaroid snapshot. The emphasis is capturing the emotions, experience and feeling of becoming new parents whether as first time parents or not. Babies are wrapped in creative swaddles and lovingly photographed with parents and/or siblings. Creative use of lighting, shadows, angles and props make for a work of art worthy of displaying in your home. Nothing compares to capturing newborns at 1-2 days old. Once they get home, their personalities, body and facial expressions settle and they start to develop a routine that will shape his or her life. Newborn portraits sure has come a long way and we’re excited to see where it develops to in the future.
